Release notes

happo for npm release notes

The happo npm package: the CLI and its Storybook, Cypress and Playwright integrations.

Major

6.0.0

Major version. Check its notes for changes you have to act on before you upgrade.

The new happo v6.0.0 package is a modern, TypeScript-first rewrite that consolidates functionality from multiple legacy packages into a single, unified package. This migration brings several benefits:

  • Unified package: One package instead of multiple (happo.io, happo-cypress, happo-playwright, happo-plugin-storybook, happo-e2e, and happo-static)
  • TypeScript support: Built-in TypeScript support with full type definitions
  • Uses ES modules
  • Improved configuration: More flexible configuration file formats
  • Simplified target configuration: Plain object syntax instead of class-based targets

To migrate from the legacy Happo packages, follow the migration guide: https://docs.happo.io/docs/migrating-from-legacy-packages

Major

4.0.0

With this version, we're using geckodriver to control Firefox. This means that you need to run Firefox v50 or newer. The main rationale for making the switch is that we now can screenshot only the rendered component. Previously, we've been screenshotting the entire page, then cropping to only include the component. Pre-cropped screenshots bring a significant performance improvement.

3.0.2

  • Happo will now more explicitly wait for background images to be ready before taking the snapshot.

3.0.1

  • Assume 403 errors when verifying S3 bucket existence is okay and proceed blindly.
